Character

They are a cheerful and affectionate breed which loves to play with children of all ages. Unlike some breeds, they are very good around small children. However, it is advised to supervise when around small children as the children may mistreat the dog. The Pomimo does not like to be left alone for long hours and start barking if neglected. The Pomimo is considered an excellent watchdog and they mark their territory, hence if a stranger comes, they immediately start barking to alert the family members. When it comes to training, they can get a bit stubborn at times, but with positive and polite training, the desired results can be achieved. It is also advised to socialize them at an early stage because once introduced to people they get friendly. Another thing to consider is that if they do not get the required exercise or activity, they can develop behavioral changes such as chewing or digging.

Ideal Environment

These dogs have a lot of energy, so do not let their little size misguide you. They need regular outdoor activities and love to go for walks and even playing games in the backyard. They enjoy playing frisbee, ball games, and even playing with children. If not given the required activity and exercise time, they tend to become destructive. They can adjust in apartment style living as well. But what must be considered is that they cannot tolerate hot weather so due precautions must be taken.
